We offer training placements to a number of groups, including long term unemployed, and adults with various Special Needs.
Our trainees come to us from various sources, including Bradford Social Services, Bradford and Ilkley Community College, The Work-Able Initiative and New Deal. We provide 'on the job' training in care, catering, caretaking and cleaning, office skills and admin, and basic life skills for people with learning difficulties.
The majority of our training is in catering, and is carried out in our fully working industrial kitchen, under the supervision of our fully qualified chef and two kitchen supervisors. The kitchen is responsible for producing all our lunches, bakery products and other foods stuffs, so the trainees are able to see a 'real' outcome for their efforts.
We firmly believe that the widest possible number of opportunities should be available to our trainees so, as part of our training opportunities, we offer a number of 'mainstream' courses and qualifications to all our employees and trainees. Recent courses include The Institute of Environmental Health's Basic Food Hygiene and the West Yorkshire Ambulance Service's Basic First Aid Certificate. In order to achieve our excellent pass rate, we supplement the usual training sessions with specially designed visual teaching aids, games and quizzes and 'on-the-job' training, to make their knowledge more relevant to the world of work. We are also a recognised training and assessment centre for NVQ and BTEC qualifications.
